Shepherdstown is a pretty village in West Virginia on the Potomac River. It is right across the line between Maryland and Pennsylvania from the city of Sharpsburg. People from the city can easily get to Antietam National Battlefield, which is close by and was the site of one of the bloodiest fights of the Civil War.
1.Elmwood Cemetery
More than 250 Confederate troops who died in the Battle of Antietam are buried at Elmwood Cemetery. This was one of the bloodiest and most important battles of the American Civil War. The graveyard, which used to cover an acre, was given to the Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church in 1980 as part of its building. In 1869, it was publicly dedicated as a memorial to the lives lost in the area during the Civil War. To remember the people who died in area hospitals during the war and were buried there, it is now open to the public. Henry Kyd Douglas, a staff member of General Stonewall Jackson, is buried in an important spot in the graveyard. 2. James Rumsey Monument and Park

The Bavarian Inn is the restaurant of the same-named inn in Shepherdstown. 4. Marinoff Theater
The Marinoff Theater is a charming theater that can also be used for other events. Since 1991, it has been a place for big arts performances and educational programs in the Shepherdstown area. 6.Historic Shepherdstown Museum
The Historic Shepherdstown Museum is a non-profit organization that was started in 1983 to protect and share the social history, culture, and architecture of the Shepherdstown area. Its goal is to help people learn about the city’s civic history over the years. The museum is in the old Entler Hotel, which is part of the Shepherdstown old District and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
