Milwaukee

A modern city in the Midwest
Interested in how people live in the Midwestern USA today? You don’t need to look any further than this cool city, which is on the shores of Lake Michigan and has streets that are easy to walk on and neighborhoods that are full of character. Milwaukee is a mix of old and new. It honors and protects its historic German roots while also offering hip shopping and dining, a great beer scene, and all the outdoor activities a city dweller could want. Stay for Summerfest, the biggest outdoor music event in the world, or come in the winter to enjoy ice skating and carriage rides through downtown. There is a lot of culture and natural beauty to see in Milwaukee all year long, and the city is easy to get to and won’t break the bank.

The Big Museums
The Milwaukee Art Museum has 40 rooms spread out over four floors and a huge collection of art. There are a lot of German Expressionist and American decorative arts pieces here, as well as Georgia O’Keeffe’s work. The Milwaukee Public Museum is the biggest natural history museum in the state. It has displays and dioramas that bring Africa and Old Milwaukee streets back to life. Find out about other countries, space, animals, and rocks. At the Harley-Davidson Museum, you can look at history from a different angle. You can check out the Design Lab or get on a bike and watch a wild movie that makes you feel like you’re riding.

Meetings between science and nature
Discovery World in Milwaukee is exactly what it sounds like. This big center is full of science-related events and programs. In this hands-on, fun place for people of all ages, you can get on a historic Great Lakes schooner, mix music, study the path of water and clean air, send Morse code messages, and do a lot more. There are 2,000 different ways to enjoy the Milwaukee County Zoo, which is almost as many as there are animals. You can get around the different habitats by Air Safari, Zoomobile, or Safari Train. There is a hippo zone, an aviary, a section for small animals, and a section for big cats. Try the zoo’s ropes course and zip line for a different view.

Culture in the area
