Fayetteville

Fayetteville – Forward-thinking, friendly and historic college town

Cycling along the Razorback Regional Greenway through the heart of the city

Fayetteville

A progressive, amiable, and historic college town
You’ll recognize Fayetteville, which is in northwest Arkansas, most during the academic year as the home of the University of Arkansas. The city is overrun with red-and-white-clad college students and sports enthusiasts cheering on the football, baseball, and track teams of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Beautiful parks and historic sites connected to Native American and American Civil War history may also be found in Fayetteville.

Entertainment and Shopping
Downtown Square and Gardens, aptly referred to as the Square, is your first destination. The Square is crowded with locals and is bordered by stores, eateries, and historic buildings in addition to being full of vibrant flowers. Don’t miss the wonderful year-round farmer’s market featuring handcrafted goods and fresh produce. Discover the city’s entertainment center, Dickson Street, for restaurants throughout the day and nightlife after dark. Take in a play at TheatreSquared, or visit the Walton Arts Center for a live comedy act, musical, or stage show.

Along the Trails: History
The Arkansas Heritage Trail winds through the whole state, protecting numerous significant locations. See the Trail of Tears Park, located on the University of Arkansas campus, to honor the American Indians who were forced to go over what is now known as the Trail of Tears in the 1830s. The Headquarters House, which housed both Union and Confederate soldiers during the Civil War, is another interesting place to see. Visit the Clinton House Museum to see former US President Bill and Hillary Clinton’s first house together, which includes the living room in which they were married.

Family Fun

Lokomotion Family Fun Center offers endless hours of pleasure with its go-karts, laser tag, miniature golf, bumper boats, and other attractions. A homage to the past, the 112 Drive-In Theatre allows you to watch movies in your car while enjoying vintage snacks like popcorn, candies, and hot dogs. Recognize that Bentonville, which is around 40 minutes away from Fayetteville, is where Walmart was founded? Visit the original Walmart store at the Walmart Museum, see the vintage red pickup truck owned by founder Sam Walton, and indulge in a retro soda fountain treat. Visit War Eagle Cavern, an underground cave in the nearby town of Rogers, and try your hand at gem-panning.
