Honolulu
An easygoing tropical city
Honolulu is a modern metropolis with a distinct combination of cultures that serves as the state capital and a gateway to the Hawaiian Islands. It is rooted in real Hawaiian tradition and home to a melting pot of ethnicities. Explore the town’s historic core, go surfing at the well-known Waikiki Beach, shop at upscale boutiques, take a trek along the stunning coastal cliffs, and eat at five-star establishments. Most importantly, you can complete all of this in a single day.
Scenery You Must See
Extinct volcano Diamond Head is located close to the Kaimuki and Kahala communities to the southeast of Honolulu. Hikers and photographers love the famous cone because it provides a panoramic view of Oahu’s whole leeward coast. Waikiki Beach’s pristine sands are enticing, and the tranquil seas are ideal for surfing instruction. Numerous hotels as well as beach shops will provide equipment and lessons of various lengths.
Historical Sites
Make time to see Iolani Palace, the only royal home in the United States. The final two rulers of Hawaii resided in the palace. To view the bronze statue of King Kamehameha, which honors the king who brought the Hawaiian Islands together, cross the street.
The combined military base known as Pearl Harbor, located west of Honolulu, is a poignant location and a National Historic Landmark. The USS Arizona Memorial, a battleship sunk in the 1941 attack, is open for tourists every day. In 1926, the 10-story Aloha Tower was built to greet passenger ships that docked in Honolulu Harbor. Visit the harborside shopping and dining facility called Aloha Tower Marketplace. The Duke Kahanamoku statue, which greets you with outstretched arms at Waikiki Beach, honors the swimmer and surfer who won an Olympic medal and made the sport popular throughout the world.
Regional Taste
Honolulu’s neighborhoods are a wealth of diverse tastes. The hotels and resorts near Waikiki Beach have everything you could want, but if you’d want to go a little further, check out Kalihi, a bustling and colorful neighborhood. Look for markets offering the authentically Hawaiian poké—raw fish cubes seasoned with pickled vegetables—at the market.
Chinatown in downtown Honolulu has emerged as the hippest area for nightlife. During the day, diners enjoy the many restaurant options, which include barbecued ribs and dim food. The 20-block area comes alive with a plethora of pubs and entertainment options at night.
Family Amusement
Your child will never forget a trip to Honolulu, whether it’s for a helicopter tour of the island or snorkeling at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve. Enjoy affluent enjoyment at the Waikiki Beach district, which boasts renowned resorts, stunning beaches, surfing classes, restaurants, and luxury brand boutiques.
On the other hand, kids can learn about the ocean environment from instructors at Na Kama Kai classes on Waikiki, experience ocean kayaking at Kaneohe with the Kamaaina Kids, or get engrossed in aerial adventures on the ropes and trapezes at Samadhi Hawaii on Cooke Street.
