NIAGARA FALLS
Enjoy the wild beauty of Upstate New York.
Since it was formed more than 12,000 years ago, Niagara Falls has been a place where world travelers, lovers, and daredevils have gone. Today, a lot of people come to the area to be amazed by the falls’ beauty and power, as well as the culture and scenery in the area. Here, you can see a natural wonder of the world, hike on acres of pristine trails and beautiful land, go on an outdoor adventure, and enjoy the simple pleasures of orchards and award-winning wines.
The first place to visit is Niagara Falls State Park.
There are natural events like Niagara Falls that get a lot of attention. Every second, more than 280,000 liters of water fall into the Niagara River. There is no better place to see it than at Niagara Falls State Park, which has many lookout points and a lot of fun things to do. Put on your poncho and go down into the Cave of the Winds in the Niagara Gorge to see the full force of the water from the Hurricane Deck. You can also take the Maid of the Mist, a boat tour that goes around the base of American Falls and then into the Horseshoe Falls area, to see the falls. Take a chopper tour to see things you’ve never seen before having lunch at Top of the Falls, a restaurant with stunning views.
Playing outside: Having fun on the water
The Niagara River, the Erie Canal, and Lake Ontario are all very exciting to explore besides the falls. Go on a jet boat tour through the rapids or hike one of the trails around Niagara Gorge to see the local plants and animals that live in this one-of-a-kind wilderness area. The Lower Niagara River, the Erie Canal, and Lake Ontario are all great places to fish for trout and salmon all year long. Join a cruise along the Erie Canal and hear about the history of the canal as you go through its only set of double locks and under the country’s biggest bridge. Visit the Niagara Power Vista, an engaging center run by the New York Power Authority. It has mind-blowing displays that show how technology and nature work together.
A lot of history and local charm
Visit the charming Village of Lewiston to feel like you’ve gone back in time. Enjoy the village’s charming streets, interesting historical sites, and interesting local culture. Nearby, at Old Fort Niagara, you can learn about 300 years of history and see one of the oldest U.S. flags that is still flying. During the War of 1812, the British took it over. The Niagara Wine Trail in the United States is only a short distance from Niagara Falls. It has wineries that grow grapes on trees that are more than 100 years old. The New York Post called the Niagara Wine Trail “the most cutting edge wine region in the country.” It is located between the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario, where the geography creates rich soil and a unique microclimate that are perfect for growing grapes that are used to make fine wines.
