A New England vacation town that looks nice all year
North Conway, New Hampshire, is a vacation town that people from New England love to visit for short trips. It is near the beautiful White Mountains and the Mount Washington Valley. The town has many beautiful bed and breakfasts, great ski resorts, a wide range of shops, great restaurants, and beautiful outdoor areas. North Conway is a great place to go for a romance getaway, a family ski vacation, or a trip to see the fall colors.

Nature tours and fun things to do
A car or train is the best way to see the valley, mountains, and woods. The 56-kilometer Kancamagus Scenic Byway, which goes through White Mountain National Forest between North Conway and Lincoln, is a popular way to see beautiful fall color. Along the way, stop to see the Albany Covered Bridge or Diana’s Baths or other waterfalls. The 13-kilometer Mount Washington Auto Road is also a fun drive. It goes straight up to the mountain lookout. You can take the old Conway Scenic Railroad and ride along the beautiful hills, ravines, and streams of Crawford Notch if you’d rather not drive.

Activities Outside
A lot of people like to fish for bass at Conway Lake. Hire a guide and learn the basics. At Echo Lake State Park, you can hike the path that goes around the lake. While you’re there, you should make the difficult climb up to Cathedral Ledge. The view from the top is worth it. Take a sleigh ride or try snow kiting in the winter. With a kite, you can slide across snow and ice. In the winter, you can also have fun snowboarding and skiing. You can go whitewater boating on the nearby Androscoggin River in the summer. Try one of the multi-day inn-to-inn bike tours if you want to stay somewhere and see the outdoors at the same time.

 

Fun things to do and shopping
The Eastern Slope Playhouse or The Mount Washington Valley Theater Company are both great places to see a show. You can take the kids to the Mount Washington Valley Children’s Museum or go to the Eastman Lord Museum at the Conway Historical Society to do something fun for adults. People love shopping at Settlers Green Outlet Center’s brand-name and specialty stores, as well as the town’s many vintage shops.
