Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio has been around since 1915. It is best known for the westerns with Gary Cooper and John Wayne that it has made. The studio is now where most of the filming for HBO’s highly acclaimed show “Westworld” takes place. The city is used to film a lot of TV shows, so keep an eye out for famous people and camera teams at work.

The William S. Hart Museum brings the past of movies to life. The museum used to be the home of the famous silent film actor and director William S. Hart. It now has many displays with collections of Western art, Native American artifacts, and valuable Hollywood memorabilia. If you get the chance, eat at the Saugus CafĂ©. This diner has been around since 1887 and has served famous people like Clark Gable and Charlie Chaplin delicious food during Hollywood’s golden age.

People think that Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor in Santa Clarita are some of the world’s best places to get scared. Six Flags Magic Mountain has more than 100 rides, games, and activities, including 18 world-class roller coasters. It is a must-see on any trip to Southern California. Make it your goal to ride Full Throttle, the world’s largest and fastest looping roller coaster. It sets a new world record at Six Flags Magic Mountain, adding to a long line of world records that the park has held.

The Hurricane Harbor water park is right next door, so you can have even more fun in the California sun. There are scary turns and twists on the Black Snake Summit. The Python Plunge slides are a great way to get used to the water park’s more exciting speed slides while you build up your courage. Castaway Cove and Splash Island are great places for kids to have fun. With kid-friendly slides and waterfalls, it’s a great place for kids to play while mom and dad relax in the lounge area next door.

 

Fun things to do in Southern California
The city is a great place for nature lovers to visit because it has many walks and beautiful views. Go into the beautiful Towsley Canyon to get a great view of the whole valley. If you want to take pictures of the amazing Vasquez Rocks patterns, you could go on a hike there. Castaic Lake is a must-see if you want to do water sports. To cool off, you can fish from the shore, kayak across the glassy surface, or go for a swim.

Want a place to have lunch in the afternoon? Eat your meal under the shade of a big oak tree in Whitney Canyon Park. After lunch, walk along the creek and hike to a small waterfall. Animal fans will love a stop at The Gentle Barn. People can pet and play with rescued horses, goats, pigs, and even an emu. Visit Mentryville, a town that grew during the oil boom in the 1880s and is now a California State Historical Landmark, for something a little different. Pico No. 4, its oil well, was the world’s longest-running oil well until it shut down in 1990. Some of the town’s old buildings can be seen today, such as the home of oil driller Charles Mentry, a one-room schoolhouse, and a barn from that time.
