Syracuse is quickly becoming one of the most popular places to visit in New York. It is in the middle of the state and has easy access to two major roads. Visitors and locals of the Syracuse area are encouraged to follow their interests and enjoy the area in their way. This is what the brand name, “Syracuse: Do Your Thing,” means.

What to Do in Syracuse

People who have been to Syracuse know that it has a refreshing and unique mix of artsy entertainment, history, excitement, and culture. People love Syracuse because it is a beautiful city with amazing buildings that have stood the test of time. As it turns out, the city has a lot of history:

In the past, the famous Erie Canal was the main way to get around the city.

Syracuse is where the fight for women’s right to vote began.

People took part in the anti-slavery fight and the Underground Railroad a lot.

Up until 1900, salt springs in Syracuse provided most of the United States.

Today, downtown Syracuse is experiencing a renaissance as an urban area. It is now a trendy place for traveling Broadway shows, high-end dining, local shops, hotels, art galleries, museums, condos, performing arts venues, and nightlife activities. With self-guided walking walks, anyone can find historical sites and try a wide range of delicious foods. There are more than 50 state, county, and city parks where people can relax and have fun. There are also more than 40 golf courses where people can play, and the Rosamond Gifford Zoo has 700 animals that people can bond with.

Sports fans can’t get enough of the basketball team from Syracuse University! The Orange are popular and are sometimes called “New York’s College Team.” There are a record 35,446 cheering fans in the famous Carrier Dome, making it look like a sea of orange. It’s the biggest stadium of its kind on a college site in the country and the only one with a roof in the northeastern United States.

People who say they are foodies love to try farm-to-table dishes that are made with ingredients that come from local farms. This includes food from cool food trucks to award-winning places that are shown on national TV, like the original and famous Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Not only does Dinosaur have the best barbecue in town, but it’s also the center of Syracuse’s growing music scene. Without much attention, this city has become one of the best places in the northeastern USA to see live music. In the last few years, Syracuse has grown into one of the biggest music cities in the area. It’s partly because of more blues bands from the area, popular regional festivals like the Syracuse Jazz Fest and the New York State Rhythm and Blues Festival, and unique places like the Dinosaur.

There is also Destiny USA in Syracuse. It is the biggest enclosed shopping, dining, and entertainment complex in New York state. Destiny USA is the sixth-biggest shopping center in the United States. It has more than 250 high-end brand-name stores, as well as shops. Destiny USA offers thrilling rides, high ropes courses, and go-kart racing, giving the whole family a new reason to go “shopping.”

Syracuse has a lot of different things for everyone to enjoy and find. There are not many steps needed to find what you’re looking for, and it’s easy to get around. What do you have to wait for? Go to Syracuse. Do what you want.
