Augusta

Southern charm, golf, culture, and history all in one place
Augusta. The second-oldest city in Georgia has been greeting tourists with Southern charm for many years. It continues to get a lot of tourists because of its beauty and great location, less than 250 kilometers east of Atlanta. In Augusta, it’s easy to enjoy warm food, lay out in the sun, or take a walk along the beautiful Savannah River. You can also go downtown and talk to locals. If Augusta appeals to you because it is useful, then its beauty and charm will make you want to stay there.

Augusta gets a lot of energy in April. During this time, golf fans from all over the world come to this area for the famous Masters Tournament. The downtown area of this beautiful city on the Savannah River is always busy with people because it is full of shops, sights, and restaurants that can’t be beaten.

Discover the legends

Legends from the area are what the Augusta History Museum is all about. One of the most-watched exhibits is about the Masters Tournament, and another is about the singer James Brown.

Help out with neighborhood art

Jim and Kristin Tar run the Art on Broad Gallery. If you come in, their dog Mason will probably be sleeping on the chair at the front door to meet you. The couple has been a part of Artist Alley since 1991. They work with other artists from the area to sell their unique glass, clay, paper, and painting works.

Shopping by decade

Old Fashioned Ooollee is owned by Caren “Ooollee” and has a lot of jewelry, clothes, and items from the 1880s to the 1980s. Items are labeled with the decade they were made in, and Ooollee loves telling her buyers about their past.

Go dance

Soul Bar, named after the Godfather of Soul, is a small place where local artists like to play. Some people can’t say no to the dance floor when they’re there all night.

Go to a nice hotel and treat yourself.

At Rooster’s Beak, a fancy taqueria downtown, the food is all over the place. Every week, the made-in-house tacos are different because cook Jonathan Marks, his brother Philip, the managing director, and the rest of the team decide what to put inside the corn tortillas. Chef Sean Wight’s dream of a stylish but cheap restaurant and social club comes to life at Frog Hollow Tavern. The menu has foods made with products from nearby farms, and there are more than one hundred great wines to choose from.

Discover a lively city full of history and Southern charm when you come to Augusta and see what it has to offer.
