The city of Knoxville is both beautiful and exciting. It is in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. You’ll be surprised by a lot at this place in the southeastern United States. It has a lot of outdoor activities, a long past, and an arts and culture scene that makes it known as “The Maker City.” No matter how you choose to enjoy the city, Knoxville will surprise you.
Knoxville and it’s past
Knoxville is a great place to learn about American history as a whole, from the Spanish taking over Native American lands to the history of frontier residents living in log cabins to the Civil War and the World’s Fair in 1982. You can go on a walk to one or more of Knoxville’s seven historic homes, which show different parts of the city’s history. You will most likely find a fort that protects the village or a luxurious Victorian home. There are stories of brave pioneers and country music stars at the East Tennessee History Center. Don’t forget to see the Sunsphere, a building that looks like a cross between the Seattle Space Needle and the Eiffel Tower. From its viewing platform, this famous piece from the Universal Exposition in 1982 gives you an amazing view of the whole city.

Downtown Knoxville is busy and easy to get around on foot. It has a lot of interesting things to do. First, check out the area around Market Square. There are over 90 restaurants and shops to enjoy. A lot of events happen at this famous meeting spot all the time, like concerts, outdoor movies, festivals, and more. Knoxville’s famous Urban Wilderness is also right in the middle of the city. It’s only 3 miles from downtown. There are more than 80 kilometers of hiking and biking trails in this beautiful green area. It also works with nature centers, parks, Civil War sites, and leisure centers.

Kitchens in Knoxville are famous all over the country thanks to a group of very skilled cooks. Along the Knoxville Ale Trail, you can find a lot of distilleries and small breweries. People who like music will be happy: When it comes to concerts, Knoxville is one of the busiest towns in the US. There is live music everywhere, from classical to bluegrass to country to rock. You can hear it in the streets, in the squares, and on the stages of famous places like the Tennessee Theater, which is the official theater of the state of Tennessee.
