MGM Grand Skyloft

MGM Grand Hotel & Casino

How did it make you feel when you got there?
With these rooms in the Skylofts, you’ll feel like you’ve been let in on a tasty secret. From MGM’s grand tower, a private lift will take you to the Sky Lobby on the 29th floor. From there, you’ll be whisked to one of the 51 loft-style rooms with two floors high above the Las Vegas Strip.

How is the crowd?
You might see other Skylofts guests, but it’s not likely. This crew keeps to themselves, but you might see them in the Sky Lounge, which is only for Skylofts guests, as the name suggests. They’re young, cool, or high-rollers at the hotel who have been asked to stay. They have a lot of money.

What’s cool: Describe your room.
In their up-to-three-bedroom flats, I’ve been in both the one-bedroom and two-bedroom ones. There are times of the year when these lofts can be found for less than you think. The one-bedroom suites are 1400 square feet and cost between $2,000 and $5,000 per night, but we’ve seen them as low as $1042. This is a great deal when you consider that your stay includes transportation to and from the hotel (maybe even in the hotel’s Rolls Royce Ghost), VIP service with no lines, and private butler service. They will even prepare a bath and put anything you want in your room before you get there.

We really need some deep, healing sleep. They got us?
The beds here are very nice. They have lots of pillows and beautiful white Anichini sheets. There is even a pillow menu with 15 different types of pillows with various fillings and levels of hardness.

What about the little things, like a minibar or shower treats? Do any of those things end up in your bag?
The rooms in Skylofts are meant to feel like real homes, so there is cool art (black and white sculptures) and lots of places to have activities. An “environment remote” lets you control the lights, curtains, and temperature, among other things. There are a lot of TVs and technology to handle everything. It may be the little extras that you enjoy the most, though, since these rooms are pretty far from normal hotel services (or a Starbucks). The rooms come with a private bar, an espresso machine, a variety of drinks, and snacks.

Tell us that the bathroom will be good.
These are some of the most stylish rooms on the Strip. Skylofts were the first to have TVs built into the mirrors, and you can watch TV from your cool, infinity-edged bathtub (which also has color treatment in case you want to turn it into your own private spa). And if you do, you’ll love the great Bulgari amenities, like different scented Bulgari bath tea bags that you can throw in (or your bath maid can do it for you).

Wi-Fi is likely the most important subject of all. What do you call it?
The great Wi-Fi is part of the $44 rental fee.

Is room service worth it?
Skylofts can get room service from some of the places in MGM Grand, and the staff at Skylofts will tell you that they can make almost anything happen. So if you have the scratch and want to set up a restaurant to deliver food to your room, you might as well… The MGM Grand’s in-room eating menu is also good. You can customize burgers and pizza, and there are a lot of mostly American options like salmon, filet mignon, and sandwiches. You can order from their dining menu if you want to have people over to your loft.

Staff: Who would get a prize if you could give one? Why?
Yes, you don’t have to pay extra for the butlers to do whatever you want. They can bring you snacks, find toiletries, draw you a bath, or send flowers. The concierges in the private room make sure you don’t have to wait in line and give you first choice at restaurants and shows.

Do any of the other services and benefits stand out to you? It doesn’t matter if it was babysitting, gyms, spas, parking, or something else.
Skylofts doesn’t have its own pool or gym, but all the fun things to do at the huge MGM Grand are just a short elevator ride away.

What did you remember or find most upsetting about your stay?
The view is what I’ll remember most! Every room has a window that is twice as tall as the living room. You should still talk to the host about which view you really want.

In the end, is it worth it, and if so, why?
These rooms would be great for a vacation or a big anniversary. They’re very big, private, and they feel both high-class and very modern. That’s right, every MGM hotel has a rate chart. That way, you can find a night when the rates are a little lower and treat yourself.
