Monterey

Stunning California vacation spot on the Pacific Ocean coast
You should put Monterey County at the top of your list of beautiful places to visit in the United States. This mildly beautiful area in central California is made up of 12 towns, such as Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pebble Beach, and Big Sur. The scenery is lush and dramatic. Imagine hills and beaches that are clean and wild, where you might see whales, sea otters, and birds that are migrating. From the homes of great writers to Spanish Missions, this place’s history is just as interesting as its geography. Along with the stunning scenery, the award-winning food and wine scene in the area will make your taste buds remember the experience. Plus, there are a lot of fun things to do, like shopping, kayaking, hiking, world-class sports, and much more.

Important points in history and culture
The National Steinbeck Museum in Salinas honors the life and work of one of the most famous American Nobel Prize winners. Go to The John Steinbeck House to see how the author spent his childhood and eat lunch at the diner that is connected to the House. Don’t miss a trip to historic Cannery Row. This area was once a hub for canneries in the early 1900s, but now it’s been restored with restaurants, theater, a colorful coastline, wine tasting, and more. Fort Ord National Monument is a great place to learn about history. It is the site of an old military base and has kilometers of trails where you can hike, bike, or ride a horse. There is also a strong link between the Central Coast and Mexico that goes back hundreds of years. Monterey was the first city of what used to be Alta California. There are many Spanish missions nearby, including the famous Carmel Mission. Also, a lot of people here speak Spanish.

Fun Outdoor Activities
You should take the scenic way since there is so much stunning beauty to enjoy. All the way to Big Sur, Highway One goes along the coast, going by wetlands, artichoke fields, cypress woods, and rocky shores. Along historic 17-Mile Drive, you can see beaches, palatial mansions, and The Lodge at Pebble Beach, a beautiful resort that sits right next to one of the best golf courses in the world. The River Road and Carmel Valley Wine Trails let you drink your way through the Salinas and Carmel Valleys. Carmel-by-the-Sea, a beach city, is the most beautiful and peaceful place on Earth. It has art studios, great restaurants, and a lot of cultural activities. If you go to Carmel Beach, don’t forget to spend some time lying in the sun.

Wildlife Seeing
For Monterey Bay, it’s not just known for being a peaceful haven; it’s also full of wildlife. You can see Life on the Bay for yourself at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This is an exhibit that shows how sea otters, humpback whales, and other animals that live here do well. You can see a giant Pacific octopus, a kelp forest, and a penguin-inhabited splash area. You can make seeing wildlife a little more exciting by going on a whale-watching boat tour. Each tour is led by a scientist or naturalist and shows a wide range of interesting animals in their natural environment. These animals include sea birds, dolphins, sea lions, and orcas.
