Minneapolis, Minnesota: A Mix of Sophisticated City. Imagine a city where you can leave your hotel and hop into a kayak to go kayaking on the Mighty Mississippi River. The Stone Arch Bridge and St. Anthony Falls will take your breath away. You could also watch a baseball game at Target Field, which is one of the best baseball stadiums in the country, and then go see a touring Broadway show. There would be lots of shops to shop at, and award-winning restaurants to eat at. That city is Minneapolis, which is a mix of high-class cities and fun things to do outside.
Fun Sports
In addition to the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, Minneapolis is home to several major sports teams, including the Twins in baseball, the Vikings in football, the Lynx in women’s basketball, the Timberwolves in men’s basketball, and the Wild in hockey. This includes the U.S. Bank Stadium, which was the site of the games in 2017 and 2018, Super Bowl LII in 2018, and the 2019 NCAA men’s basketball Final Four. These big events always have a lot of excited fans.
Theater and the arts
The Walker Art Center is the most popular modern art museum in the United States. It has a large collection of art from all fields and also shows live acts, lectures, and movies. Minneapolis has more live shows per person than any other city besides New York City. You can see a show at the Orpheum Theatre, which has hosted Broadway shows, the Guthrie Theater, which has won a Tony Award, or at the Minnesota Orchestra or Minnesota Opera. The Mill City Museum is in an old flour mill on the Mississippi River. It tells stories about the history of the city. You can see things that are 40,000 years old and current masterpieces at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
City of Health and Nature
Minneapolis has been called the Healthiest City in America, the Fittest City in America, and the sixth-best U.S. city for runners. It also has the best parks system in the U.S. and 321 kilometers of trails, making it one of the most bike-friendly places in the world. There are more than 320 kilometers of tracks for fun. There are 197 parks where you can play and unwind. The Chain of Lakes is a favorite place to fish, canoe, boat, and do ice sports.
Shop, eat, and drink
The country’s biggest shopping center is the Mall of America. There are more than 500 stores, as well as the SEA LIFE Aquarium, a Nickelodeon theme park, the Crayola Experience, the House of Comedy, and other things to do. Craft beers from the city’s dozens of brewers are fun to try. Yelp says that Minneapolis has the most breweries per person of any city in the United States. Pizzeria Lola, which was named 18th best in the world, has unique flavors. Lotus serves Vietnamese food, Hola Arepa makes Latin cornmeal cakes, and Patisserie 46 makes hand-made pastries.
